Drop City is a fucked up mess…

The following writings begin with and respond to In Proximity and Experimental Film Posters 1964-5, curated by Valerie Santerli and Rachel Beitz (Rule Gallery). Rule  is a contemporary art gallery based in Denver, Colorado that has a second space on San Antonio Street in Downtown Marfa, Texas inside a former housing space for interns at Marfa Public Radio.  Both In Proximity and Experimental Film Posters 1964-5 aimed to document and celebrate the artistic community known as ‘Drop City’, an artist’s commune which formed in the late sixties near Trinidad, Southern Colorado. Both shows ran until September 30, 2017, at Rule Gallery, 204 E San Antonio St., Marfa, TX.
